Why These Books

The best twenty minutes of the day.

These books are for the lap-reading years. Short enough to hold a child’s attention. Honest enough to hold a parent’s. The kind of story a kid drags back to you the next night before you can even ask.

It’s OK to Be a Puppy

Ages 3 to 7

A young pup figures out that being exactly who you are is enough. Silly, clumsy, still learning. That’s fine. Parents say their kids want this one every night, and it’s easy to see why.

Where Will You Go, Ricky Jo?

Ages 3 to 7

Ricky Jo gets into things. He figures things out. He always, somehow, lands on his feet. A series about one irresistible kid and the small adventures that make childhood feel enormous.

Where will you go, Ricky Jo? Children's Book.

Picture Book

Where in the World Will You Go, Ricky Jo?

Ages 3 to 7

This is the second children’s book featuring Ricky Jo, and this bedtime book is just as fun as the first puppy book.

Coming Soon

Rita Pita Is Not a Penguin

Ages 3 to 7

Rita Pita looks a little like a penguin. But she is definitely not one. A laugh-out-loud story about knowing who you are and owning it, even when everyone around you has a different idea.

Author, Thomas Murdoch

“He writes short enough to hold a child’s attention and honest enough to hold a parent’s.”

Thomas Murdoch spent four decades writing for some of the biggest advertising agencies in the business before he started writing for the most important audience he had ever found: kids.

He lives in New Jersey with his wife Nancy and their dogs, who may or may not have inspired a book or two. He is a Marine veteran who has traveled to more than 50 countries. He has seen a lot of the world. He writes about what matters close to home.

His books come from the same place all good stories do. Real feelings. Real kids. No talking down. No lessons wrapped in a bow. Just a story worth telling twice.

When he is not writing, he walks the golf course in the morning, usually with the dogs out front and a good idea somewhere in the back of his mind.
